Words With Friends (WWF) and Scrabble look similar but have different tile values, board layouts, and accepted word lists. If you're moving between the two games, it's important to know which scoring system applies.

Several tiles score differently in WWF compared to Scrabble. This tool shows both scores side-by-side so you can compare. Key differences include:

  • B: 4 pts in WWF vs. 3 pts in Scrabble

WWF Strategy Tips

  • Triple Word Scores (TW): WWF has Triple Word squares near the corners — hitting two TW squares with one word (a "TW-TW" play) can score enormous points.
  • Build on short words: WWF accepts many 2- and 3-letter words. Knowing these opens up more board positions.
  • Save your high-value tiles: J (10 pts), Q (10 pts), X (8 pts), and Z (10 pts) are game-changers when paired with a bonus square.
  • Check both scores: A word that scores high in Scrabble may score even higher in WWF, or vice versa. Use the dual scores shown here to make the best choice for whichever game you're playing.
