Wordle Solver

Enter what you know from your Wordle guesses — green letters, yellow letters, and gray letters — to filter matching five-letter ENABLE candidates.

Enter at least one constraint above to see matching words.

How to Use the Wordle Solver

After each Wordle guess, the game gives you colour-coded feedback. Enter that feedback here and the solver will narrow down the list of possible answers instantly.

  1. Green boxes (top row): Type a letter into the box that matches its position. For example, if position 3 is green with the letter A, typeA in the third box.
  2. Yellow boxes (second row): Put each yellow letter in the position where you guessed it. The solver requires the letter elsewhere and rejects it in that position.
  3. Gray field: Type all the gray letters together. These letters do not appear in the answer (with one exception — see below).

Results appear automatically and are sorted by letter-frequency score — words made of the most common English letters appear first, giving you the best odds of eliminating more letters on your next guess.

What Is Wordle?

Wordle is a daily word puzzle published by the New York Times. Each day there is one secret 5-letter word. You have six attempts to guess it. After every guess, each letter is coloured:

  • Green — the letter is correct and in the right spot.
  • Yellow — the letter is in the word but in the wrong spot.
  • Gray — the letter is not in the word at all.

The challenge is to identify the hidden word using the fewest guesses. A good opening word like CRANE, SLATE, or RAISEcovers high-frequency letters and gives you maximum information on the first turn.

The Double-Letter Edge Case

Repeated letters create both minimum and maximum counts. If two copies are green or yellow, a candidate must contain at least two. If one copy is coloured and another is gray, the candidate contains exactly the coloured count. Enter every coloured occurrence in its position and include the gray occurrence in the gray field; the solver enforces both bounds.

Wordle Strategy Tips

  • Start with a vowel-rich word. Words like ADIEU,AUDIO, or OUIJA cover four vowels in one guess.
  • Prioritise high-frequency letters. The letters E, T, A, O, I, N, S, H, R, D, and L appear in the majority of 5-letter words. Guesses that include these letters narrow the field fastest.
  • Use the solver early. After two guesses you typically have enough green and yellow information to cut the word list down to a handful of candidates.
  • Pick a different second word. If your first guess has no green or yellow letters, choose a second word that shares none of the same letters to cover more of the alphabet.

About the Word List

The solver uses the ENABLE (Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon) word list filtered to 5-letter words — over 8,600 entries. ENABLE is a broad public-domain reference list, not the official Wordle answer or allowed-guess list. Results can therefore include obscure words or omit a Wordle entry that is absent from ENABLE; use the candidates as guidance, not a guarantee.
